So, whether looking for classic stand-up comedy or enthralling music theatre, or just trying to find things to do with the kids, check in here for the fall and winter’s hottest events.

Bill Cosby

No introductions are needed for this comedic legend. Simply saying his name is sure to inspire fond memories of his work. From I Spy to The Cosby Show, Bill Cosby has earned the top spot as one of America’s most respected and beloved comedians. This one, however, is for those who will be (or are willing to) travel. But don’t fret, the shows aren’t until 2009, so there is plenty of time to make travel arrangements.

Mike Epps

Although this funny man isn’t making his way to the East Coast during his current tour, his appearances are worth noting because he is – well – funny. From the Friday series to All About The Benjamins, Mike Epps is always able to use his infectious smile and raucous sense of humor to get his audience rolling in the isles.

The Color Purple

Whether your favorite line is “I'ze married now!” or “You told Harpo to beat me,” this play (based on Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel, and made into an acclaimed Steven Spielberg film) is a must-see. Directed by Gary Griffin, this musical blends a jazzy score with the struggles, pains, and joys of a mistreated woman who finds her voice. Although it closed on Broadway in February of 2008, the crew decided to take the inspiring show on the road.

Disney's The Lion King

In the same vein as its feline cousin CATS, The Lion King is setting itself up to be one of the longest running Broadway plays. Based on Disney’s most successful animated feature to date, the play tells the story of a lion cub named Simba who sets out on an adventure to reclaim his rightful place as the king of the Pride Lands. With Tony Award winning directors and music by Elton John, The Lion King is well worth the trip to New York.

The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker is a classic! Great for Christmas! Great for the kids! Great for those who like dance! Based on “The Nutcracker and the King of Mice” written by E.T.A. Hoffman, the ballet tells the story of a young German girl who dreams of a Nutcracker Prince and a knock down, drag out fight with a mouse king. This classic ballet is a must have during the holiday season as it is sure to get everyone in the spirit.
